Community participation
Community participation & social support
A life is more than a clean kitchen. This is the support that gets you out the door — to the things you enjoy, the people you like, and the places you want to be part of.
What it looks like
Whatever “getting out” means to you
We do not run a fixed activity program and tell you to pick from it. We start with what you actually enjoy — or what you would like to try — and build the support around that.

Building independence
Support that aims to reduce itself
Where independence is your goal, we work towards it deliberately. That might mean learning a tram route with a worker beside you, then a worker meeting you at the other end, then a phone check-in, then nothing at all.
We document each step so the progress is visible — useful for your own confidence, and useful evidence at your next plan reassessment.
Skills we commonly work on
- Using public transport confidently
- Managing money while out
- Ordering, queuing and asking for help
- Reading timetables and planning a trip
- Staying safe in public and online
- Making and keeping social arrangements
“The measure is not how many outings we logged. It is whether someone has a week they would choose to have again.”
Common questions
Usually Core Supports — Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation. Skill-building goals such as learning to travel independently may also draw on your Capacity Building budget.
You do. The NDIS funds the worker’s time supporting you, not your movie ticket, gym membership or coffee. Your worker never expects you to pay for theirs either — if an entry fee applies to them because they are supporting you, we will discuss that with you in advance.
Yes. Our workers hold a current licence and comprehensively insured vehicle, or can drive your vehicle if you prefer and it is insured for that. Transport costs are agreed in writing before they are charged.
Yes. Some people prefer one-to-one, others get more out of a group. We can support you in either, or a mix — and we will be honest about which we think will suit you.
